Beginners: Your First Meeting!

What to expect at your first visit to OKC Spanish:
Prep! Study the event materials and resources to get ready for the meeting. Since our donation-based meetings are not "classes," the goal is to study the materials on your own and then show up to practice your fluency and ask any questions you couldn't figure out on your own.
On the way: Be sure to have a copy of the article - either on your phone, tablet, or printed. You may want to take notes, so keep that in mind! Don't panic if you are running behind - we are a very laid-back group and rushing won't help your nerves!
At the meeting: We might be chatting in English or in Spanish when you walk in, but we always start each meeting with introductions (even if you've been to a hundred meetings!). After we've introduced ourselves, we will read and translate the article (one person per paragraph). If you become uncomfortable and do not wish to read, you can simply say, "Paso" (I pass). Then we go around the room, responding to the discussion questions. I offer corrections and feedback dependent upon your level, how easy you are to understand, and how well I know you. If I see you often, I might remember that you've been practicing your vowels, for example.
When the meeting is over, you are welcome to make a donation in cash with me, or via Venmo or Paypal. We look forward to having back as often as your schedule and goals allow!
Any questions or concerns can always be sent to me through our contact form. You can also join the Beginner's group to discuss the upcoming article or ask questions!
